The Professional Nursing (LPN-RN) Program is an approved nursing program by the Florida Board of Nursing. The program builds upon prior practical nursing education and combines advanced nursing theory with hands-on skills practice in the nursing lab, along with supervised clinical education at local hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, and ambulatory care settings. The program prepares licensed practical nurses to transition into the registered nurse role and to seek employment as entry-level registered nurses upon successful program completion and licensure.

Marion Technical College is excited to announce that applications are now open for the Professional Nursing LPN to RN Certificate Program, approved by the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Board of Nursing pursuant to Chapter 464, Florida Statutes, including ss. 464.008 and 464.019.
This one year, 900-hour bridge program allows experienced LPNs to complete the same RN curriculum, take the same NCLEX RN exam, and earn the same RN license as degree-based programs. Florida is among a small number of states offering a certificate based pathway to RN licensure, supporting workforce expansion as nursing shortages are projected to continue through 2035.
Applications are open now through February 27, 2026. The program launches April 1, and seats are limited. If you are an LPN ready to take the next step, apply now and be part of the next cohort of registered nurses shaping the future of healthcare in our community.

Marion Technical College Nursing Programs are in compliance with the U.S. Department of Education’s (USDE) Regulation 34 CFR 668.43 (a) (5) (v)
Removing barriers to cross-border practice, the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) is an interstate agreement allowing a nurse to have one license and the privilege to practice in other compact states. Implemented in 2000, the NLC fosters public protection and access to care through the mutual recognition of one state-based license that is enforced locally and recognized nationally. Along with most state nurses’ associations, hospital associations and health care facilities in every state overwhelmingly support the NLC. The NLC includes important patient safety features such as facilitation of the sharing of licensure, investigative and disciplinary action information among member states. All graduates from Marion Technical College Nursing are eligible to test for any state licensure in compliance with U.S. Department of Education’s (USDE) Regulation 34 CFR 668.43 (a) (5) (v)
