The purpose of the combined Firefighting and EMT program is to provide the necessary training required for students to become certified firefighters, as well as licensed emergency medical technicians. The firefighter portion follows the curriculum provided by the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training. The EMT component of this combined program prepares students for certification as EMTs in accordance with Chap.64J of the Florida Administrative Code.

CPAT (Candidate Physical Abilities Test)
Candidates need a passing CPAT letter that is no greater than one year old by the start of the program. Contact MTC for questions and requirements. More information about what to expect with the CPAT can be read here: National Testing Network
Basic Skills Exam
Students may need to take a Basic Skills Exam (PERT) no later than the sixth week of class. This exam will not affect your acceptance into the program. Please submit all official transcripts (High School, GED, Associates degree or higher) prior to the start of your program start date for possible exemption. Students will be notified after they have been accepted into a program whether or not they will be required to take the exam.
