Urban Search and Rescue Courses

ROPE RESCUE LEVEL I

Rope Rescue Level I is a course designed to train rescuers in high and low angle rescue/recovery.  This course meets and exceeds NFPA 1006, Chapters 5 and 6.1.  This course will teach the student;

  • rescue knots
  • rope systems
  • anchor systems
  • raise/lower techniques
  • ascending rope
  • stoke basket operations
  • rope theory

Emphasis will be placed on safety, raising, lowering, and bely operations, as well as moving a victim in high/low angle environments.

Rope Rescue Level I is a pre-requisite for the remaining USAR/TRT courses.

Rope Rescue Level II is a course designed to train rescuers in high angle rescue and recovery.  This course meets and exceeds NFPA 1006, Chapters 5 and 6.2 requirements. This course will teach the student;

  • rescue knots
  • rope systems
  • anchor systems
  • raise/lower techniques
  • ascending rope
  • stoke basket operations
  • rope theory

Emphasis will be placed on safety, operating lower and raising systems, passing knots through rope systems, pick off techniques, high line evolutions, and introduction to newly developed rope rescue techniques and equipment.

CONFINED SPACE RESCUE LEVEL I

Confined Space Rescue Level I is a course designed to train rescuers in all aspects of a confined space emergency, including rescue and recovery.  This course meets OSHA standard 1910.146, as well as NFPA 1006, Chapter 5, and 7.1, Confined Space Technician qualifications

Confined Space Level I/II will teach proficiency in;

  • assessment of confined paces
  • pre-entry operations
  • atmospheric testing
  • supplied air breathing systems
  • personal protective equipment
  • lock-out/tag-out procedures
  • conduction/executing confined space

Emphasis will be placed on lowering/raising techniques and safety reaching, assessing, packaging and removing victims from confined spaces.

  • atmospheric testing
  • supplied air breathing systems
  • personal protective equipment
  • lock-out/tag-out procedures
  • conducting/executing confined space.

Emphasis will be placed on lowering/raising techniques and safely reaching, assessing, packaging and removing victims from confined spaces.

 STRUCTURAL COLLAPSE LEVEL I 

Structural Collapse Level I is a course designed to train the rescuer operating in a collapsed building of light construction.  This course meets or exceeds NFPA 1006 Chapter 5, and 9.1 requirements and will teach the student;

  • scene size up
  • light weight constructed collapsed structures
  • building marking techniques
  • victim identification and removal
  • building stabilization
  • breaching and breaking
  • moving heavy loads

Emphasis will be placed on victim and rescuer safety, and the utilization of basic hand tools to achieve course objectives.

Structural Collapse Level II is a course designed to train the rescuer operating in a collapsed building of heavy type construction.  This course meets or exceeds NFPA 1006 Chapter 5 and 9.2 requirements and will teach the student;

  • scene size up
  • light weight constructed collapsed structures
  • building marking techniques
  • victim identification and removal
  • building stabilzation
  • breaching and breaking
  • moving heavy loads

Emphasis will be placed on victim and rescuer safety, and the utilization of power tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools and heavy machinery.

TRENCH RESCUE LEVEL I

Trench Rescue Level I is a course designed to train the rescuer in trench rescues and recoveries.  This course meets or exceeds NFPA 1006 Chapter 5 and 8.1 and will teach the student;

  • trench size up and assessment
  • atmospheric monitoring
  • trench support shoring
  • victim profiling and packaging in the trench

Emphasis will be placed on rescuer and victim safety, trench support and shoring techniques of straight trenches.
