Looking for more information on making barbering a viable new career for you? Marion Technical College’s new Barbering program will provide you with the training it takes to be employment-ready.
The future for the barbering industry looks bright. As the population continues to increase in the coming years, the need for barbers will increase with it. Between the years 2014 and 2024, employment of barbers, hairdressers and cosmetologists is expected to grow by 10 percent – higher than the average growth of any other occupation. There is no better time than now to launch your career as a barber.
A hands-on career requires hands-on experience that prepares you for the ins and outs of the barbering industry. Marion Technical College provides a mixture of theory and technical training that covers the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skill and other occupation-specific skills it takes to become a successful barber. These aspects of the Barbering program will also provide you with the necessary tools to pass either the Florida Restricted Barber or Barber License Examination.
A Step Closer to a Lifelong Career
While barbering has an excellent growth outlook, a lifelong career is established through passion and job satisfaction. The barbering field allows you to build meaningful relationships with people in your community and brings something new to the table every day. Barbers also report having a lot of flexibility between work and non-work related activities, allowing you to make time for family or pursue other interests.
