Graduation Information

Marion Technical College holds two commencement ceremonies each year honoring all graduates earning Florida High School Diplomas (GED) and Career Certification Program Certificates. The dates for the 2017-2018 commencement ceremonies are:

  • December 14, 2017, at Marion Technical Institute, Ocala | 7:00 p.m.
  • June 14, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Ocala | 7:00 p.m.

Students interested in participating must notify their program instructor by November 1st for the Winter ceremony, and May 1st for the Spring ceremony.

ELIGIBILITY

Career and Technical Education students are eligible for graduation once the following criteria are met:

  1. Completion of all Occupational Completion Points and/or courses.
  2. Completion of all competencies as stated in the Master Plan of Instruction.
  3. Completion of state-mandated exit requirements for TABE, if applicable.
  4. Completion of the required clock hours, if applicable.

CAP & GOWN

Winter 2017 Commencement:
The traditional cap, gown, and tassel regalia can be ordered and purchased online through the Herff-Jones website October 3rd through October 27th.

Delivery of all regalia will be delivered to Student Services by early December. Dates will be forwarded to your instructor once they have been scheduled. Pick-up of graduation regalia for students will be made available between the hours of: Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Graduates should arrive one hour prior to ceremony time.
Guests should arrive early. Doors to the auditorium open one hour prior to the ceremony. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first serve basis.
Graduates must be in regalia (cap, gown, and tassel) to participate in the commencement ceremony. Be mindful that this is a formal occasion, please dress appropriately.

Commencement lasts approximately an hour.
Yes, tickets are required for any guests planning on attending. Students who register in Student Services for graduation, are entitled to 4 tickets to attend the commencement ceremony in the auditorium.
No tickets will be issued unless the student has received their regalia. Tickets may be picked up at Student Services: Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
